Terry Longways has basically been living in a drum fill since he was a kid, spinning around the living room to his parents’ Elton John 8-tracks and beating up his first kit soon after. By his teens, he was ripping through Austin, TX clubs, cramming late-night gigs between Engineering classes and jumping from Country to Rock to Punk like changing channels on a car radio.
When he’s not rattling cymbals, Terry’s been busy raising an army of young rockers as one of the original School of Rock ringleaders—helping open 25+ schools and filling them with glorious, noisy chaos. Along the way, he’s shared stages and studios with Dave Mustaine, Nikki Sixx, Patrick Stump, and even a young Justin Bieber (yes, that really happened).
Now he’s bringing that swagger, groove, and big-hearted backbeat to The Waiting—a dream gig for the kid who saw Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky” at nine years old and never got over it. For Terry, every show is simple: hit hard, play loud, smile big, and honor the songs that made him fall in love with rock ’n’ roll in the first place.
